Seto-gawa and White-Walled Storehouse District

A row of White-walled Storeshouse, and Setogawa Canal. When talking about townscape of Hida Furukawa, these are a must and symbols of town. 1000 colored carp are swimming from spring to autumn in the canal. At the same time, children are playing with a smile in old streets. You can feel the real llife in Hida.

Pick up

Against the background of white walled warehouses and stone temple walls, the Setogawa River, in which over 1,000 multicolored carp swim, is a major popular spot with richly atmospheric scenery that might be described as the face of the castle town of Hida-Furukawa.
Many old town houses still remain here, laid out like a checkerboard, and this district has a 500-meter stretch of white walled warehouses that is beautiful in all four seasons, with tiny, quaint streets perfect for strolling about.

Note

During winter, the carp swimming in the Setogawa River are moved to a nearby excavated pond.
