Hojozu Hachimangu Shrine

A beautiful shrine built by 8th-century poet and statesman Otomo no Yakamochi out of love for the scenery of the former Nagonoura area, where you can feel the lingering elegance of Manyo poetry. Every Oct. 1st there is a fall festival where 13 hikiyama parade around the town.
