Etchu Daimon Kite Festival

This festival is one of the largest participation-based festivals in Imizu City, and gathers kite-lovers from across Japan. The festival began when local neighborhood associations and children’s clubs began kite-flying events here at the open square along the Sho gawa riverside, but it now brings in participants from all over the country. The festival is enjoyed by many each year, and includes a number of competitive events, including a kite-flying competition hosted by local children’s clubs, our famous kite-flying competition with participants from across Japan, and a free-style kite-flying competition in which elementary school students and other regular festival goers may compete.
